Born on January 30, 1995 in Rockville, MD with an incredible gift of song; 18 year old Atiya Yasmine Askia better known as "TIA" began developing a special interest in music at the tender age of just 4 years old when she led the children's choir in worship at her daycare.  It wasn't long before she started experimenting with a variety of music to include; jazz, reggae and inspirational.  Growing up in a talented musical family exposed TIA to several influences and singing techniques that has resulted in her skills to harmonize and produce powerful lead vocals through her unique singing style.  Her grandfather was a member of the "5" Royales, a group comprised of rhythm & blues, jump blues, gospel and doo wop from the Carolinas.  Her mother's involvement nationally and abroad in the gospel arena has been the very foundation of young TIA's vocal ability and approach.

Music for TIA brought anticipation and deep levels of comfort during the loss of her brother and the terminal illness of her father.  In July of 2009 TIA sang the National Anthem for several little league football games and the buzz quickly spread about TIA's amazing voice.  In 2010 TIA traveled nationally with Patrick Lundy and The Minister's of Music  and performed as a background singer for national recording artist: Kurt Carr.  In April of 2011, she sang background for one of Gospel's top national recording artist: Karen Clark Sheard and later in November, that same year, performed background vocals for another national gospel recording artist: Beverly Crawford.   In 2012 TIA had the honor of performing at the NEW! Howard Theatre.   In December of 2013, she closed the high profile event: "An Evening with the MESSIAH Opus 3" Featuring: Donald Lawrence & Company, with a Christmas Tribute of one of the most famous songs in history; "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" to an audience of over 3,000 and received a standing ovation.

TIA is embarking on a new musical journey, while recording with Billboard Charting and Grammy Nominated Producer: D-Moet.  He has worked with several incredible artist in the industry for 20+ years, but is amazed by the phenomenal vocal ability of young TIA.  "This must have been how Quincy Jones felt when he began working with Michael Jackson"TIA's strong faith in God and the unconditional support of her FAMILY, CHURCH and FRIENDS, will continue to be the driving force behind her pursuing her dreams and sharing her exceptional gift with you.
